On the D series every axis — injection, plasticising, mould open and close, ejector, carriage and mould adjustment — runs on its own servo motor and ball screw. There is no hydraulic pump running in the background, and that is where the 30–50% energy saving over a hydraulic machine comes from, along with much lower noise, no oil near the moulding area and far less cooling water.
Precision follows from the same architecture. The motor drive control system holds repeatability to ±0.01 mm, part weight repeatability stays within 1‰, and the injection unit deforms by 0.05 mm or less even at the highest pressure, with pressure monitored in real time. Clamping uses a self-locking five-point toggle with a high-rigidity structure that keeps deformation minimal — which is what precision moulds need — and a high-performance linear guide rail carries the moving platen for parallelism and accurate positioning under load.
The design is modular: large clamping units and injection units can be combined flexibly, which makes the machine a good choice for parts with a large mould but few cavities. Models from 450HD to 1400HD use a double-layer injection unit for flexible injection.
Control is the EP 706E — an Intel Atom x6425RE quad-core processor with 64 GB SSD and 4 GB LPDDR4X memory behind a 15” touch screen, with two Ethernet adaptors supporting OPC UA and MODBUS-TCP for factory integration and two USB 3.0 ports for data import and export. Control accuracy is supported by German PA-CNC elements and the Inovance technology platform.
Reading the model codes: models ending in D are fully electric. Models ending in HD add a hydraulic carriage and hydraulic ejector as standard, which is what you want for core pulls, unscrewing devices and ultra-shot work. On the D models both are available as options — a dual hydraulic carriage for ultra-shot needs and a hydraulic ejector for special core pull or unscrew requirements. The 90–230 tonnage sizes are available in both D and HD versions, and the two share every figure in the table above, so those rows are listed as a pair; from 300 tons upward the range is HD only.
Where it fits: medical components, optical articles, thin-walled precision parts, electronic connectors and any high-cavitation job running continuously, where the energy saving compounds quickly and cleanliness matters.
There is no pump-motor rating in the table because an all-electric machine has no hydraulics to drive. Welltec publishes connected load in kVA instead — ask us for the figure on a specific model.
